Ok I'm boat shopping these days and just as I'm driving around town today I see a family pulling a Crestliner Eagle out to the lake.
I was looking at them in the catalog and they looked too big for my use. But seeing one up close, they really look like a sweet boat.
Anybody own one or have fished out of one? Pros and cons?
Definately a trolling rig, but can you still do some casting out the stern?

Darwin,
I have a 2000 2360 SST with hardtop. I run it on Puget Sound and as far North as the Sunshine Coast in BC. It has been a pleasure. What I like the best is the weight (light compared to glass) and it trailers real well behind my Expedition on short or long trips. For fishing, I cannot say there are any major problems or cons. The deck space is just right for me and maybe two others. I rigged it with the usual rod holders and down riggers. I added in a removable tow pylon for tubing for kids. I did modify the gunnels storage space for rod, paddle, and gaff storage. If there is one thing you need to look closely at it will be that fact that the new models are not walk-around. Crestliner changed this in '02, I think, to give the cuddy and helm area more room. To get to the bow, one now has to go through the bow portal. Though I have not been in the newer model, given how much I use the walk-around on mine, I would stay with the smaller cuddy and helm area to retain the walk around feature. For a 2360, go with a 250 hp or one of the new 225 4 Strokes. As with any new purchase, test drive one. If you are in Seattle area, let me know. We can take mine for a spin.

I was considering buying a 23 foot Eagle outboard back in '97, but I ended up buying a 22 foot Proline instead. But I wish I would've bought the Eagle because of the light weight though. They don't make them in a walkaround anymore. I just sold my Proline and I'm actually in the process of looking for a newer, used 23 foot Eagle Walkaround with SST transom. Can't seem to find one though. I figure that's because the folks that have them don't want to give 'em up. I don't know.

Great boats .Only problem I ever had was hard top but that has been taken care of. I may be moving up to a larger boat and might be selling my 2360 eagle. Where are you located.

My step father just bought a leftover 2002 Crestliner 1850 sportfish. We pretty much use this boat exclusively for Erie and have been out in 4ft waves and wasnt worried one bit. I would recomment this boat to anyone.

Do you keep it in a slip or on the trailer?

Brad,

The boat was bought brand new about 3 weeks ago so I really dont think we ready to give it up quite yet. LOL. However for the right price I guess anything is for sale...just kidding, I think we will have this boat for a long time. I think Crestliner quit making the 1850 sportfish but Im sure there is something comparable. If money is no object look into the TS 202, its is a bad boat!
