View Full Version : Replacing bulbs in submersible trailer lights
I have the oval submersible lights on my trailer and lost one of the running lights. Still got the turn and brake lights. Problem is I can't seem to figure out how to get at the inside to replace the bulb or do I replace the whole unit?

yep they are throw aways ,when you get your new one, shrink tube the splice so it is water proof.jim
Sort of what I figured after fighting with it for half an hour yesterday. Thanks

I replaced my lights with LED lights last year. Sure solves a lot of frustration. Now if they don't work I know it is a wire or plug issue.

Been there and done that. I bet I spent about 30 minutes as well just trying to figure out what I was missing. Stupid design but I guess they can probably sell & make more that way.

This may be a new definition of "cheap", but I have used a hack saw blade to cut the clear lense at the black base. The lense can then be removed and the bulbs replaced. I then use Ultra Black Permatex to attach the two again, let dry overnight. I have done this a couple of times, seems to work OK and is watertight. I not sure if I will do it again, takes too much time.
