You will need to send it to Lowrance. It is the coatings on the screen that is coming off.

Mine is doing that too looks like a sunburn peel. First I thought it was a bad case of water spots. I will send it in at the end of the season after halloween. Wonder what that will cost?

With many of the screens on depth finders today - various types of plastic. You need to be very very very careful as to what might touch the screens. Many of the things that get into the air, or on our hands might have a bad effect on the screens. A friend of mine was spraying on insect repellent and some of the overspray got on the screen, and severely "spotted" the screen. After talking to Lowrance about the problem, they exchanged the unit for 1/2 the normal warrenty repair cost.
They thought that the problem had been caused, not by the repellent, but by the propellent that had forced the repellent out of the can.

They have also indicated that some certain kinds of sun screen, some oils, and some other fish scents can have a bad effect on some of the different brands of depth finder plastics.

I suspect that in general, the main things that you need to worry about are the solvents, propellents and other types of chemicals that might be "dilluents" as my chemist friend used to say. This is a material that easily combines with the suspect material and turns the suspect material into a liquid.

Return the unit for repair or replacement, and be careful in the future, as to what is allowed to touch the unit.

Take care

It happened to me also and was really hard to read. I figured it was RainX crystallizing and worked my butt off to remove the rest with various cleaners, I never did find anything easy that I felt comfortable using. I haven't had a problem since and the screen looks good, but now I'm hoping I didn't screw up by removing the rest of it. 200 bucks sounds pretty expensive to take care of this problem.

Same problem with one of my older units. Off the record, a Lowrance tech said it is the polorization film peeling off little by little. He recomended the finest rubbing compound I could find to complete the removal prosess. Then wax or Rain-x for a finish. Worked great and no colors with polorized glasses!!

Another cased of us paving the way for greater improvements. I remember when I paid $1595. for my first LMS350. Then it was 350A I bought that for less money. And now that we are new and improved I think I'll wait. I also paid $499.00 for my first cellular phone in 1985 with useless minutes. I also paid 2495.00 for my first computer in 1985 which in one year was nothing more than a paper weight or a boat anchor. Next yearI may upgrade but only by keeping in touch with you guys on this post that are real people careing about each other. You can always tell when the salesman lies to you - his lips move.

T-MAC I hope I didn't offend you you seem like a real person and I may just go to Montana for my next rig. That is if I caught your post right.
