I have a 2001 CL 1850 Sportfish. I have the 20 inch transome and I believe you have the 25 inch transome. My kicker is mounted on a Panther Martin mount which hangs down over the transome. The 20 inch shaft might work with a similar set up but i am sure. Some of the guys with the newer 25 inch transome might help you alot better. Enjoy the boat.

with a 20in shaft in rougher water, your kicker will be coming out of the water. i went from a 20 in to 25in. also with the longer shaft, your turns have more control...
hope that helps

I've got a 25" 9.9 Merc 4 stroke on mine. It is mounted directly to the transom port of the big motor and has power trim and remote throttle. When on the trailer and the kicker is all the way down, it still hangs high enough off the ground to tow without worry of it hitting the street. If you intend to mount the kicker direct to the transom (no Panther type mount) the 25" is the way to go, IMO.

I have 1997 model with a 8hp kicker mounted on the high side of the transom, my 20" has come out of the water once or twice but it needs
to be really rough maybe 3-4 ft waves.
You will really love the boat.

You do need the 25". I am having the 5" spacer installed on my kicker shaft as we speak. Mine came out of the water too much to suit me.

I would also look into which prop to get on it. I have the 9 picth for the merc 9.9 and am looking into getting a different prop for better speed contol. It's pretty touchy from 1 to 2 mph.
