Hi ya,

New boat and the dealer told me to run the batteries all the way down before recharging. He said they have a memory and if recharged before they are dead, it will remember and will run out when acutally they are only half way through or so... This true? and...

How does one go about draining the entire batteries? I have 3 of them.

So if I use my batteries for 2 hours one day, I can charge them overnight and use them the next day without seeing any side affects and continue doing this throughout the life of the battery? Thanks for the info!

The "memory" problem existed in NiCad batteries at one time but has mostly disappeared due to newer technology. It does not exist in lead acid batteries. The best thing you can do for a lead acid battery is to keep it charged. If you discharge it completely and let it sit, it can "sulfate" and destroy itself.

Keep them boat batteries charged!:)
