I know this is short notice and I know it will be hard to get places to stay. We are heading to the Iowa great lakes on 7-15-01. We are only staying for a few days. I want to head up into Minnestoa for the rest of the week. Any suggestions on a good area for the whole family. I was looking at the Green lake area around Spicer. I do not know what the towns are like. I like fishing for smallmouth, walleye and pike. I guess the Brainard area would be a possibility, but I am trying to keep the drive time down. Minneapolis? Alexandria? Thanks for any informaiton.

Try lake Sara just north of The Iowa great lakes in minnesota. It was a hot walleye lake a few years ago. "COMA"

You'll find fishing for yourself, and lots of other stuff for the family in the Alex area. Tough go, however, without reservations.

HEY We will be on nest lake by Spicer from the 20th to 29th. been going there for 5 years now and never been dissapointed. Try islandviewresort-nestlake.com and if they have room you will love it. Very clean lake too and it dumps into Green Lake. And when you check the web page look at the fishing page, at the bottom is my youngest kid. Hope I see you there. Wile E.

And by the way there is a water slide, mini gulf and go-carts within a couple miles of the resort for the kids. Wile E.

Thanks for the information guys. Hey Wile E, what kind of fishing advice do you have for me if I go to Spicer. I am a smallmouth nut, but like fishing for Walleye and Pike also.

Steve, I mostly troll for Walleyes (weedeyes) with Rapalas before daybreak or after dark and have picked up some nice smallies doing that. They are there. Look at the fishing page on the web site that is in the earlier reply and they have the resorts records for last year there and you will see that there are some nice ones. for 950 acres it is a very good lake. good luck and I hope I see you there.
