This is a most unusual question...but one Im sure you've all dealt with. I have a new deep-v boat.
When you have to get out of your Deep -V onto land because nature calls, you're unhooking a lure from the bank. or you're just checking something out;
any secrets to getting back in?
Im short...5'10" and I have to literally crawl over the side.
Im concerned how long Im going to be able to do this.
Any secrets ? Thanks.

I will usually put my knee on the bow mount troller deck, push off with my other foot, then turn around so my feet are in the boat and get off the bow deck to stand on the main floor. If you don't have a bow deck to kneel on, it's pretty much as you stated...almost like falling in.

Carry a 5 gallon pail, plastic bags that fit the pail and some toilet paper and you won't need to get out of the boat for one of the concerns. Seriously, though, The only ways I know of to get back in the boat are like VMS said or like you currently do. I just avoid getting out. If I cast onto shore and can't get it back, hey, it's only a lure and always (almost) replaceable.

Actually, I have seen several folks who carry short ladders in a storage compartement in their boat; for this exact problem.

You can actually make a ladder out of aluminum that is quite narrow, but will give adequate support to get in and out of boat - on such a situation.
If you make it narrow, it can easily fit into a side compartment in the boat.

In answer to your question.
The following is a picture of a 4-step ladder from Overtons.com for $23.
You can hang it off the bow, or off the gunnel, to get in and out of the boat.
With a 4 step - 48 inch ladder, it should take care of most of your issues.

It folds down enough, so that it will convenienetly store nicely in most boats, in a storage locker.
