I am thinking about kickers engines in this range. in these size engines does the oil get injected or does the gas have to be mixed with oil? It will be moving a 3000 pound Lund . I have heard there are bigfoot models whatever that is. would a 2 stroke or 4 stroke have more power? thanks. anyone with this setup already?

ex-pup,

I believe the 10-15 hp 2 strokers are oil injected now. Most 'eye guys go with a 4-stroke because they are quieter and smoke less-important when you will likely be trolling downwind most of the time. 2-strokers are a little lighter than their 4-stroke equivelents. BigFoot (Merc) have a lower gear ratio, presumably designed to troll/push heavier tourney style boats. Mine's a standard Merc 15 hp 4-stroker and seems to do well, but I've never run a Bigfoot model to compare.

I agree with Tooman.
In this day and age - you should absoulutely get a 4-stroke in a kicker.

You will love the quiet, and the lack of smoke while using this engine. It will have oil in the crankcase, just like your lawn mower, and you will simply change it once a year.
Use the same fuel that is in your main gas tank, and you will be good to go.

It is tough to beat the Yamaha T8 motor.
You can go with the Johnson, Merc or any of the other 4-stroks as well. They all work and run well.

Take care
