Just lookin for ways to improve/upgrade my towing. Lookin for web sites or any advice from you guys.

Heres the scoop. Its a 93 Ford Econoline 150 5L V8, auto tranny.(never tow in OD). Factory tow package. HD coil springs, extra frame support. Tranny cooler. Extra Load tires. Air shocks in rear added.

Now it pulls a 21' Proline Loaded with gear, Full tank, wt approx #5000. What I'm hopin to improve it pullin power on mod/large hills. Like through Appilachians, and poss fuel economy. Is this poss. Is there a site to check for this ?

Is a new computer chip available for any help. How about air intake and exhaust systems to improve air/gas flow?
Is it worth it?
Thanks in advance. BTY I love this site Thanks Scott!

I have a similar set up in a '92 conversion van and just absolutely hate the way this little 5.0 liter handles the road with my boat in tow. And I have a much smaller boat than yours, a 17 footer. I am waiting to hear the responses to your request.

My solution is to put the boat behind the truck but with all the family along this is not the most convient at times.

I had a 1988 Ford van that I puller my 19' Crestliner with for many years. The van had a towing package. I also added some helper springs to the rear end, I think they were about 500# which di help the read end from sagging. The van always swayed on me and I didn't like that. The trailer would take over when taking on curves in the road and that needed overe correcting from me.

I finally sold the van this spring and replaced it with a F150 SuperCrew. I couldn't be more happier. I have the 5.4 V8 and there is plenty of power and lots of room for more people. We had four guys in there this spring on a 250 mile fishing trip with no problems, everyone had lots room.

I think the 5L is way to small or just not geared to handle your job.
