Every year five friends and I head out for a week of walleye fishing, and have been to Lake Oahe, Lake Sakakawea, and Crow Duck Lake, Manitoba, the last three years. For 2002 we are looking at Lake Vermilion in Minnesota. Anyone have any information re walleye fishing this lake? Is it worth the trip? Any information will be greatly appreciated. JackSalmon.

Jack,
Lake Vermilion is truley a beautiful lake and the fishing can be good at times, but in my opinion, Lake of the Woods would be my top choice as Rainy Lake a close second. A little better quality fish here to be had than Vermilion. Assuming that you are looking for somethin in the northen Minnesota area.
Just my 2 cents.
Looking to go to Lake Sakakawea this September. Can you help me as far as a tactics, depth, locations?
Thanks

Ditto the previous post; for a "once in five years" trip I'd go with Lake of the Woods (especially eastern portion) or Rainy Lake. Houseboats, camping and lodges are available at both lakes.
Here is an off-the-wall idea: How about Costa Rica? Sounds weird, I know, but the opportunities and pricing are super.

If you do go, bring lots of hot-pink fireball jigs.
