Looking for comments on Starcraft boats. I'm considering a 19 ft fisherman (2001) with a 125 merc. I know its not a lund or Crestiner, but I'm looking for fishability, affortability and size. I take my family out many times during the year. Does this boat perform well? What about the Pro Elite model? any comments would sure help. For the money is this a decent boat?

Thanks

I owned a Starcraft for six years and sold it to buy a Lund. I think I made a mistake. Starcraft is a very good boat, especially the Pro Elite. You won't be sorry

I own a 2000 1800 Pro Elite with a 150 Opti and love it..I get 50mph out of it, it fishes great and is a great family boat.we ski, and tube with it, I had a crestliner b-4 It beats them all hands down for storage the ride is great. I was looking for a boat with a full windshield but didn't want a boat that had too much freeboard so the starcraft was my first choice Lund fisherman 2nd crestliner 3rd

I get many comments at the boat launch from other boat owners on how well laid out and good looks the starcraft has.

Good luck you won't be sorry with one..

I have a year 2000 ProElite 2000 w/ a Merc 150 EFI and love this set up. A 102 inch beam makes it the widest 20 footer made. The ride is superior. The air ride seats are great. There is tons of storage, I`m still trying to fill it all. LOL. The quality of a Starcraft is second to none. Not too many used ones out there. The owners hang on to them cause they love them. Pick up a brochure from your dealer to see all the features of the Pro-Elite. Too many to list here. Lunds are a nice boat, however I think you pay a little for the name. I have yet to talk to an unsatisfied Starcraft owner. The double tandem trailer makes for easy towing and loading and unloading is a snap. I`m in and out faster with the Pro-Elite than I was with my 14 footer. Everything stays in the boat. Locks on every compartment. Even the built in cooler has a lock. My advice is stick with quality, buy Starcraft. Good luck with your purchase

I traded my 16 Lund Rebel for the 2003 Starcraft 17 C-Star. I put the Merc. 125 on the back and it runs 50 mph by GPS with a half tank of gas and one other person in the boat. Has been trouble free sence day one and handels GREAT. Fish Saginaw Bay a lot and it handles great out in the bay. Nice dry ride as long as you drive according to conditions.
Good Luck,
Tom

I just sold my 86 starcraft center console with a 70 horse merc.It was an outstanding boat!I loved it and fished all over the midwest and throughout great lakes with it.It was very very hard to part with.
I moved up to a 97 y.model~ 191 mako with a merc.150 LXI offshore. Its also a c.console.I can only hope it catches fish like the old starcraft boat did..By the way I paid $4900 for the starcraft in 99 and sold it the first day I listed it for $3800.....Talk about holding thier value eh!!!..FISH HARD~Wahoo

Great boat. I fish out of the nearly identical Starcraft Starfire and it is a great rig. I fish Erie alot and it has handled the big water well. Only downside has been the EZ LOader trailer. Sounds like a ten cent piece of junk coming down the road and it has been like that from day 1.

How is the layout of the pro-elite(20ft). Is it roomy enough for 4 people? Does the back livewell/storage area get in the way of fighting fish? I fish Lake Michigan/Erie most of the time. I also put a board across the back(gunnel to gunnel) with downriggers, rod holders etc. Just want to make sure I'll be comfortable trolling, landing fish(hopefully).

thanks

I've been in my friend's Pro-Elite 2000 7-8 times. It rides great in 3-4 footers on Lake Erie. Generally, he loves the boat.

I've had a Pro-Elite 2000 with a 225 Opti for a little over 5 years now and I can't say enough good things about it. The boat is very roomy, the ride is great in the roughest of water, boat control is very good for a 20 footer, and it's fast. In fact, I've never had another aluminum boat pass it except on the highway.

I think that Starcraft can hold it's own with any boat out there. They don't spend a lot of money on marketing, particularly with the tournament crowd. All that means is that they don't have to recoup that money in pricing.

If you've read the boards over time you will find very few disatisfied Starcraft owners.

And no, I'm not affiliated with Starcraft in any way . . . just a very satisfied customer.
