Does anyone have a torsion axle on there trailer? Most trailers I have seen have springs. I am thinking of putting one on my boat trailer and was wondering if I should stay away from them.?

I have a 30'tandem axle from EZLoder. I run it in saltwater and have had no problems. Don't get the squeek from springs and less exposed metal surface to rust. Seems to be more smooth then springs even w/o shocks. I've heard of leafs breaking but never the torsion. They seem to be a little lower in profile but I do not have any exact measurments to validate. I don't see any reason to avoid. Enjoy.

I too have torsion bars on my EZ Loader. And I think they are great. Just like having independent suspension. Seems to be a smooter ride. And as said in the above post, no more squeaks.

My Warrior trailer has a torsion axle. Lower profile for easier loading. No noise and no problems in 4 years.

I have one under my EZ Loader and it is a vast improvement over the leaf spring trailers I have had in the past. It rides smoother and seems to eat up the bumps and ripples at freeway speeds. I would recommend getting one.

The wife has had torsion axles on her horse trailers for almost 12 years. The ride is definitely smoother. I was skeptical at first, thinking that the rubber torsion block would disentigrate from the axle cam repeatedly crushing it under load. We've only had one set of "rubbers" replaced. The dealer thought it was a defect in the molding process since the other axle set was fine, and still is after five additional years. Her two trailers are rated at 8500 and 10,400 lbs gross. I think a boat would pose no problem for a torsion axle rig.
