This afternoon I watched three late-teen, early-20 "anglers" working shoreline with an elec motor and casting crankbaits and spinner baits. I saw one bass caught.

I called TIP to report the violation (in MN, TIP is the "turn in poachers" number). The TIP operator told me she didn't think the "anglers" were doing anything illegal since they did not keep gamefish (Only panfish & rough fish are currently legal in most inland MN lakes).

TIP gave me the warden's number. I called that number, got a recording and was told to call TIP if my intent was to report a violation. This sucks. The three guys were clearly in violation of MN fish laws -- TIP is supposed to be our avenue, but they pass the buck to someone who tells you via recording to call TIP. Forget it.

One key thing to remember is that you can also call the State Patrol and they in turn will route the nearest warden to that area.
I did this up on the St Louis River... It works!!!

What do you expect, it is a government operation. That is the way these things are handled, pass the buck until the public is tired of waiting, and then they will stop calling. Call one of your reps. in the state legislature, see how far that gets you. "Smile don't worry":-)
