We have an Alumacraft 14' johnboat which we want to rig. We are looking for ideas for flooring, electric trolling motors (especially bow mount), electronics and lighting, anchor systems, rodholders, seating, cleats, livewell/baitwell, etc. in short bow to stern ideas and suggestions. (All suggestions welcome - No idea too small or too crazy!)
I already have an extra-long stern light for safety; one idea we have for rodholders is to install a 2-3' section of 7/8" tubing
on each side of the boat and use rail-mount rodholders.
We are also kicking around a design for a small Bimini-type top for a little shade...
Thanks in advance for your ideas and suggestions.

cabelas has a molded plastic livewell that would work really nice. Catfish insider magazine sometimes has some neat ideas on rigging flat bottom boats. Hope this helps!

A buddy of mine ran his wiring under the ribs and then put 1 1/2 inch styrofoam insulation between the ribs before putting on 1/2 inch plywood and his carpeting. You might just want to use a cooler for a livewell with an airator with suction cup mount.

Bow mount trolling motors are nice. But having had a wireless remote control, bow mount Motorguide on a 16' Lund...I'd recommend trying a transom mount first. I found myself over steering regularly. Maybe it was the motor...but I'd still consider the transom mount before spending the extra bucks. With the leftover cash...you could always buy something nice for you wife...or a handheld GPS. Good Luck either way!
