Just got a X-15 on a used boat and don't think it working right. I was drifting the other day and the unit would suddenly lose the bottom. I'd get horizontal lines through the display and the depth would start flashing. After a few minutes the unit would "find" the bottom again and would be working fine. Sometimes though, I'd have to shut the unit off and re-start to get it working again. It also loses bottom once the boat is under power more than at idle.....now, I disconnected the power, sonar, and GPS leads and when re-connected, I get an error message that the GPS module is not responding. Any ideas??? The unit has the original software. Thanks

First of all your transducer is going out, that's what makes those lines on your screen, it's not rec'g returns. 2nd check your softerware version, by going to the menu screen, then to sonar set up, then to softerware info, should be 2.5 or later, if it is any earlier than that go to Lowrance's web sight and down load the latest version. Hope that helps.

Mine was doing the same thing. I purchased one of the earlier units.

I ended up sending it back and Lowrance fixed it for about $200.

I had a dual frequency trans.

It has worked fine since.

Just wanted to get back with a solution to part of my problem, thanks to brousing the archives. Turns out my NMEA wires were touching. I separated them and taped them off. The GPS works great again. Thanks to all that had previously posted on this problem.
