I am looking to replace my Hummingbird fish finders. I would like to get some input on what you guys think are the better ones on the market. I am thinking of an X 85 and 1 more. Which one is the question? I plan on using them on the Great Lakes mostly so a GPS in the unit is ok. Question 2, Can you mix brands of units together, Say a Lowrance and a Bottomline? Thanks to all who answer. JJ

John.. I am on my second year using the x85 and really like it. I heard rumors at that time that Lowrance was coming out with all their new models soon and the new Pinpoints were already out. I decided to opt for the 85 rather than the new Pinpoint or wait for the new Lowrances as it was a time proven reliable unit. I hope I'm accurate here but as far as mixing units from reading previous posts you need a minimum of 8 mhz difference in the units but more would better. If this is correct the Lowrance and Pinpoint may mix, Lowrance is 192 and Pinpoint is 200. Maybe search the archives for some of those posts.
