I own a new 2001 Lund Adventure SS 1650. After only about 20 hours i noticed on the outside of the hull the lower half had bulges through the aluminum. The frame braces inside seem to have sharp edges that are causing the aluminum to bulge to the point that the paint is chipping and has unsightly seems running down the rivet lines?? Should the frame be smoother? or maybe some kinda rubber molding covering them so they don't stress the aluminum painted outside of the boat?? Did i get a poorly assembled boat?? Should i have them fix it, it's 11 months old?
Please let me know if anyone has a aluminum Lund with stress bulges running up and down on the outside of their boat. I can only assume its going to get worse to the point the paint job will be shot. Thanks, and happy boating!!!!!=)

I have a 99 lund and nothing similar to what you are experiencing. I would contact your dealer and show them what is going on. YOur boat is young, so don't be fooled into thinking this is normal, or that you should pay the dealer some deductible or derig/rerig charge. Document every contact you have with the dealer and the factory. I wouldn't anticipate any problems with Lund, but sometimes, the dealers can be a little bit of trouble. Some may try to put you off. A good dealer will go to bat for you and get it fixed, or replaced.

Kevin,
I had one small bulge (2-3")on a '97 Explorer when I bought it. It was caused by the fore casting deck bracing. I could see the gelcoat wasn't cracked but the paint underneath was. I had the dealer write on the purchase order this deficiency at purchase. Within two months the gelcoat had cracked thru and paint started to chip. I called the dealer and arranged to have it fixed. He ended up having to have an auto repair shop redo/paint that area but never had a problem with it thereafter. My thought was that the bracing was pressed in with too much pressure as this was on the boat before it ever hit the water. I would contact your dealer. Take some pictures of the damage or video tape it in case you would end up dealing with Lund directly. I would think that should be covered under your warranty. Xplorer
