We will shoot for the weekend of Oct 7,8, and 9. The purpose of this post is to pick the location. the last post got long and fragmented. It was pretty much a draw between Glendo and Big Mac. Please choose one or the other.
One thing to keep in mind, at Big Mac we can't have alcohol either on our boats or if we wanted to have a barbeque, say Saturday night after fishing. I really can't comment on which would provide better fishing, because I have never fished Big Mac before. I can say that Glendo has a huge population of walleyes and everyone says that this will be a banner year. I have fished it twice and did fairly well, under less than optimal conditions. Both lakes have big fish potential. Cast your vote and circle your calender.

Since Glendo is closer to Vegas, have to go with Glendo! Plus I've never like McDonalds or The Cardinals.

If there is enough interest, maybe you could give a 1 hour lecture on western carp strategies on Saturday night. Maybe share a few of your favorite recipes.

I would be more than thrilled to turn our friends on to one the most under-utilized resources in our reservoirs and lakes.
The Freshwater Bonefish in know for it's raw fighting power and difficulty in patterning.
I will be able to share techniques and locations for putting more carp in your boat!

Maybe some day they will put Walleyes in Lake Mead and we can have a Vegas Get-Together.

I've got a question: doesn't Glendo get pulled way down for irrigation in late summer/fall? I haven't fished it, but drove past (what I thought was) Glendo several years ago in late summer & didn't see a lot of water. Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong eastern Wyoming lake. This normally isn't a problem at McConaughy.
Just wonderin'!

This would be a good question for Scott Golden or Dave Kooser to answer. They are Glendo regulars. I remember seeing posts about the good fishing there last fall, so I assume people weren't having problems launching their boats. It is a pretty big lake in it's own right. Both times I fished it were in the spring, so I can't honestly answer this question.

I vote Glendo. They do pull alot of water out of Glendo in the summer since it is an irrigatioin source for Nebraska but by October the water level should be stable. Worst case is that the ramp by Whisky Gulch will be out of the water and we will need to use the ramp at the marina. Best case is that both will be open.
I see if I can check the past water flows and levels. If I get any decent data, I'll re post.

I hear that Big Mac is full and planning on putting more water into in the next month. Glendo, will be okay if we don't have a drought this summer!!!!!! My vote is for Glendo. At least there, maybe my arm won't fall off from jigging spoons in 40'+ of water!!!!!!!

I know its hard on your arms, but you can't argue with it's effectiveness. About 7 years ago I saw a picture at a local anglers house of a stringer from Glendo taken on spoons in late October. The five fish stringer weighed 56 lbs. You do the math.
Glad to hear you are coming Jim. We are going to have a good time.

I am going to go out on a limb here, and say it looks like Glendo.

Hey Neal,
Just got back from picking up my boat in SD. Glendo is fine with me. Will have to check work schedule to see if it will work but I think I can swing it. Got your e-mail and will write later.
