I'm looking at buying a new '04 Ranger 620T with a 115hp 4 stroke, fuel injected Yamaha this week and was wondering what prop you guys are running that have this same set-up. Please be specific on the performance you are able to achieve as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ranger rigs this with a 17 4 blade stainless. Besides the bad hole shotand not enough rpms, the four blade makes the lower unit gears clatter pretty loud when idling in foward. I switched one of these exact rigs to a 15 three blade stainless. 5700 to 5800 at wot and a good hole shot with a moderate load. Very little gear noise. The only company I know of that makes this prop is Power-Tec. There may be other after market props that size. The OEM props only go down to 17 in stainless. A good dealer should set this up for you!

If you haven't placed an order yet I would encourage you to look hard at the Suzuki 115. You'll find it has a better hole shot, slightly better trolling attributes and doesn't have any "making oil" problems associated with the Yamaha. Now with all that said I still contend that the Yamaha is a great motor, I just think the Suzuki is a little better.

Nice rig you are planning. While not having the same rig (I have a Yarcraft 1895 BT w/115 4str), I thought I would pass along my propping experience. I tried three aftermarket SS props--2 15's and 1 17--and all 3 performed poorly. The stock 17 aluminum Yammie prop performed very well so I finally tried the black Yamaha SS 17. It works great--even with 3 people and a full load I can spin 5800 rpm. Top speed varies from 38-41 gps. The Yamaha prop was the most expensive of the SS props but worth it. Good luck with your new rig.

I live in Mpls,Mn and I could be interested in a rig owned by a "pro", provided it hasn't had the crap beat out of it. Let me know the details. You can email me @ gandsellis@msn.com.

Thanks,

Use a Mercury 16p Vengance. It is what Ranger puts on it at the factory when they hang the motor. Great performance from no load to max load. 36-40mph and 5600 to 5800RPM. Those are no load and full load stats. You will love this boat and motor combo.

Enjoy

Slip bobber rigged and fine-tuned my boat with the 15 pitch Power-Tech and did a great job I might add. I went out and took some notes on the performance of my 03’ 115 Yamaha and 03’ 620T Ranger. Here’s what I have found.

Hole shot was on average 3-4 second. Top end was 40.1 on the GPS at 5800 RPMs. Trolling forward it went 2.4 MPH and in reverse it went 1.4 MPH. All this was done with myself, half of tank of gas, and all my equipment. I haven’t run the boat with a full load yet so I can’t give you any info on that. Hope this helps.
