I am looking for some information, good or bad on the Minn Kota MK-220 battery charger. It is a two bank with 20 amps per bank. The price seems right. Any comments would be appreciated. It will be used on an AP65, 18ft boat. I could not find anything on this in the archives.
Thanks,

I have a 3-bank 330 that is about 3 years old--I bought it used on this Swap Board. Have had zero problems in the 2+ years I have had it.
I have had an MK330 for three years and it has worked flawlessly. Would not hesitate to recommend it.

I was talked into trying a MK-330SC this spring when I rigged my new boat. I had planned on using Guest(because I had owned them up until then and had good luck) but decided to try something new and the Minnkota's sounded nice. I installed the unit in mid April and had it lock up on full charge in early June but was able to get it to go back to working properly by disconnecting everything and restarting it. Then in the end of July it failed again and would not charge my batts and would become extremely hot when plugged in. So hot in fact that you could not keep your hand on it for any length of time at all! I talked to Minnkota and the Dealer I had bought it from and both said to send it in for replacement no problem. I did this through the dealer and have since installed a new one and will be happy to give them a second shot. The dealer was out of the
MK-330SC so I had it replaced with a MK-330 and store credits. I am using lead acid batts so I did not need the charging abilities for gell or other batts so it was kind of a waste of technology for me. I was told the charging cycles are basicly the same between the two(Minnkota and the dealer both said this so I hope its true) so it would still satisfy my needs. I will give this new unit a go and hope it works fine, if it too fails I will probably go back to Guest. Just my opinion, nothing more. See ya and good luck, RJ in Montana..

I have a mk300 first year with it. I had only one problem with the fuse holders, one at a time they all melted. E-mail minn kota and there response was "wonder how that could have happened" I installed heavy duty fuse holders and it's fine know.
