Wondering if anyone had any input on a Ford F150 towing a Ranger 690VS with tandem axle, surge brakes. Boat, trailer and gear weigh 3640. Would a 250 be over kill or will a 150 be fine? Thanks for your input.
you'll be fine. you'll be better if that 150 has the 5.4l though.

You'd be real happy if that F-150 is going to be a 2004 with the new 300hp 24 valve 5.4L... As good as my 2001 5.4L is the new truck is better...

I tow my 20' 6" Skeeter ZX2050, Total weight has to be very close to the same, with a tandem axle trailer with a 2001 F150 4X4 with the 5.4. No problems. It does turn off the cruise on it's own while in hill country though. Average around 12mpg towing depending on speed and direction of the wind. worst mpg towing has been 9mpg towing at 75 mph against the wind. Plenty of power though.
