I think I might have located a real deal on an almost new 1997 Ranger 692VS, with a 1997 Yamaha 150 Pro V and a matching 1997 Ranger tandem trailer.
According to the seller he bought the boat new in 1997 and put ~ 10 hours on it before developing some serious health problems that have prevented him from using this boat for the last 6 years. He also stated that he had the boat professionally winterized before parking it in his garage; where it’s been stored ever since.
I’ve located a Ranger/Yamaha dealer close to where this guy lives to have the boat inspected but aside from a compression check, pressure check on the lower unit, having all the old gas drained from the tank, an on the water test and a general inspection; are there any other tests/inspections that I should have done.
The seller says that he never got around to putting a trolling motor or any electronics on the boat before storing it. Not that that’s a big deal, in light of the price he’s accepted, but it would seem to support his story. He did e-mail me pictures of the rig and from all appearances it does look brand spanking new.
FYI - I know that if I buy this rig that I’ll need to replace the water pump, change the lower units lube and replace all the trailer tires.
