Hollow body lures are the toughest their are to work with, but wheres theres a will theres a way. Rattles in balsa, no rattles in the hot n tot, lures witout rattles are hard to come by. Better than 80% of all crankbaits sold have rattles now a days, and they work. There are species of fish that you can not touch with a rattle though. Great mystery? That the hot n tot was the long standby for the rattle less bait, the vibration of the lure is real loud anyhow the addition of the rattle increased this.
Rapala heres the time and place to make the same lure with rattles and without. To engineer rattles into balsa when a foam injection body is as bouyant and 10x more durable is bewildering to me. Come on guys make some sense, Darn.

I was in Mills Fleet Farm tonight and they had them on sale for $3.50 each. Check out your local bait and tackle stores.

I don't know about making them, but I do know That Rapala is really screwing things up. They are discontinuing some of the best lures out there. No more rattle-tots or lightnin shads and the new deep thundersticks with the glued in lips are worthless as are the high dollar tail dancers. You pay big bucks for a lure that falls apart the first time out. Rapala used to be good, but no more. They just buy out the best competition and then discontinue there line or screwe it up.
no more 1/2 oz all so. 1/4 oz with the bills glue on
