I am not sure which side of my boat I should mount the ladder on. I would like to mount it on the port side using bolts, however, I can't access the inside of the transom (to get the nuts on) because of a livewell on that side. If I mount it in the starboard side, I'm afraid it might interfere with the transducer/speedo pick-up/speedo wheel on that side. I can access the inside of the starboard transom from a storage area.

Will the ladder be secure enough if i just use screws? Does anyone have a ladder mounted on a Sportfish? Which side is it mounted on and with what (screws or bolts)?

Thanks for any advice,

Joel B.

I ordered the ladder with the boat. They put it on the live well side. The floor pannel back there should be easy to remove once you locate the screws in the carpeting. I'd use bolts for sure.

Joel,
I have an 1850 SF. The ladder came on the boat. It's mounted on the starboard side with bolts thru the transom. I'd say you have to use bolts because of the amount of weight the ladder has to hold. My transducer and paddlewheel are mounted below on the same side and I don't get any interference. If you're going to ski, I think you have to have a ladder. I can't see any way to get into my boat from the water short of climbing up the motor.

I also have an 1850 Sportfish that came with ladder mounted on the starboard side. No problems with my transducer below.
