While up at Mille Lacs this past weekend, I came across a couple Deep Thundersticks in my box that would not run straight to save their lives. I'm curious how to tune these lures, which have a split ring attached to a small "hoop" molded into the lip.

Thanks for any suggestions! It's almost an impossibility getting a needle-nose onto the "hoop" while the split ring is attached.

yes dave it is awful trying to tune thundersticks with a
needle nose. some of the other posts talk about a tuning
tool that might get the job done.

and by the way, thundersticks always need tuning.
by the way again, they work great when tweeked properly

Dave,

This is just a thought. I use thundersticks all the time and haven't had any problems with them till this summer. What I have learned that leaving your tackle box out in the sun will increase the temperature inthe box. Thus, causing them to warp and bend. Has your tackle box been subjected to long periods of heat? just a thought. I found out the hard way.

I have several Hot-n-Tots that are slightly deformed and do those buggers catch fish ! Put them in my tournament box and they are the first ones pulled out. Think they give off an uneven wobble and signal that something is wrong with them. Like an injured or dieing prey fish. Don't throw those warped ones away. They will produce for you.
