View Full Version : Help Lund owners. Which boat cover to buy?
I have a Lund 1650 Rebel tiller and need to get a new cover. I have a trolling motor mounted on the front of the boat which creates some issues when buying something less than custom fit. Does anyone have any feedback concerning out of the box covers for trailiering and storage? I am considering Cabelas ratchet tie down or the Trail Pro II or something like that. 600 dernier poly with waterproof coating etc. Is this a heavy duty cover? I would like to find something similar to what Lund provides with new purchases. I would buy one of the Lund covers if I could find someplace to order them from. Will a cover for 16' boat fit the 1650 or do I need to jump to 17'?

You can order covers from any Lund dealer or call Lund direct. You might have to have the front altered where it fits over the trolling motor.

I have a Lund cover on my 1700. I am not sure what kind of material it is made out of, but it resembles a thick vinyl. It is the first cover I have had that doesn't rip to shreds when trailering, and I have trailered a lot of miles with this cover, and so far, no rips or tears. As for the trolling motor, I mounted mine using one of those mounting plates that can be removed when trailering. The other thing I like about the cover is that it is custom fitted for the specific size and model of Lund boat you have. It gives a good, snug fit.

I'd also call my local Lund dealer for a cover. The one I've got one mine fits like a glove, and no problems. I take the trolling motor off for long distance trailering. The dealer suggested that. The cover has a liner in the areas where you'd expect the most wear, such as the bow area where the trolling motor bracket is. Hope this helps.

Have you priced out a custom cover? For not much more than a good premade cover you can problebly get a custom cover, and go with snaps.
That is what I did and dont regret it.

I ordered a cover for my Rebel from Overtons.com. I fits like a glove. I then ordered the Hurricane tie down straps from Cabelas. I have trailered alot of miles with the cover on and have had no problems at all.

Try http://www.boatcovers.com/ Just follow the links for your boat. They even have options for the trolling motor. Prices seem reasonable.

Another vote for a custom made snap cover. For just a little more you can get one made specifically for your boat and your needs (i.e trolling motor).
