Hi Guys
Well I took the Plunge(into the wallet)and ordered a new 04 Ranger 620 with a 225 Yamaha four stroke motor.
Does anyone out there run this combo?
How satisfied are you with the performance of the 225?
How is the gas mileage?
Thanks to all

Well, Keith, nice setup. Congratulations. I would own one also if I could get it into my garage.
One small point ... if you can afford the rig you can afford the gas mileage. Laughing here.
Enjoy it!!

Keith, as you know this is the first year for a 25" transom on the Ranger 620, and the first time they'll be able to run a 225 Yamaha 4 stroker. However Skeeter has run these on the ZX2050(I'm doing this for imformative compairson reasons) for 3 years. When compared to the the 2 stroke EFI 225 the 4 stroke 225 was a few miles an hour slower but much more fuel efficient. Holeshot difference was not that great. So I would think the overall performance difference on the Ranger 620 would be similar. A little less top end and greater range. You may be able to pick a couple of mph on the top end by taking off the Yamaha prop and replacing it with a Tempest in the same pitch. Seems like a 21" Tempest is pretty popular with the 225hp Ranger folks. Some experimenting may bring you great rewards :) Besides that, it's fun, and your gonna be at the head of the learning curve with this new combo. T-Mac may have already worked with these, so at least this will boot it back up to the top. Sorry I couldn't help more...

Hi Jeff,
What pitch Tempest are you running on your ZX2050? I have a chance to get a 23 at a great price but if it won't spin, I don't want it. Remember, I have a 225 not a 250 like you do.

What prop are you turning now Steve? At what RPM. I've pumped my motor to the top hole and am running a 23" Tempest A45 and I'm gonna try a 23" Temepst A47 that I just bought. I think the 225EFI has the nerds to twist a 23" Tempest, and if you're a little RPM shy you may want to try raising the motor up 1 more hole. The Tempest hangs in there way better than the 23" Yamaha Pro Series. Keep in touch.
