None of my friends have the same drive as me when it comes to fishing. Some only fish springtime, some only certain water and most only a couple times a year. I feel like I'm missing out on alot of the good fishing because no one wants to travel far except me and traveling far away on a fishing weekend alone does not appeal to me. I end up fishing alone close to my house all the time. Same old burned out water. I have yet to visit many of the great waters in Northern Minnesota and I can't believe it! I haven't even made it to Milacs this year but I don't want to open that can of worms. When I'm really desperate I'll drag my wife along but that only works once or twice a year at best. Maybe a fishing club would help? Are there any fishing clubs in Minnesota (Twin Cities) that I could join? Do they welcome individual applicants without sponsorship? It would be nice to meet some of my own kind and get busy fishing. I'm not looking for new best friends just some people that are going to the same place to fish for the weekend and maybe throw back a beer or two at the end of the day.

Suzuki,
I am the president of a fishing league that we started this year. We fish all over the state, not just one area. We have an event comming up on Ottertail on the 28th of July. After that, We'll be on Mille Lacs on the 11th of August, Minnetonka on the 25th (might be changing that one, we are still discussing that) and then we'll finish up on Leech on Sept 8th. We fish in teams, but if you need a partner we can find one for you. It is a nightly pay-out with no running total kept, so new teams are welcome. If you are interested, email me at tdhmlh@home.com and I'll get you more information. This is not a high-pressure deal, we have lots of fun with a little competion thrown in.

GG, I would also like to get info. Wish I had known about Ottertail sooner. :-(

Suzuki, we also have a group that gets together in a similar casual format on several lakes each year. We hit Leech Lake the weekend after Labor Day. It is open to guys/gals and is based on the honor system as it is catch and release.

Mill Lacs, Lake of the Woods, Ottertail and Winnie a couple times in the winter.

We also hit Ottertail in the spring, Mill lacs a few times in the year, etc.

Let me know.
