I just bought a X65 fish finder and was wondering if there is anything I need to do to initialize it. The reason I was asking is because when i turn it on, it says the depth is 0 ft. There is nothing in the directions about this so just wondering if I have a deficient product or I have to do something to initialize it.
Thanks Ryan

Sounds to me like you're aground at the stern! <grin>

All seriousness aside, I don't know the answer to your question.

I had the same problem with a X-85 I just purchased. It would work fine as long as I was in 10ft or deeper, anything below that it just flashed. I called Lowrance and they thought the transducer was bad and sent a new one. That was not the problem. I tried it with the new transducer and now it does not work at all. My dealer is giving me a new monitor.

Assuming you installed it correctly, have the transducer connected to the unit and the boat is in the water, you should get a reading. I'm assuming you're using the automatic mode. The best thing to do is call Lowrance toll free at 1-800-324-1356, and talk to the fishfinder people. They can walk you thru the set up procedures just to make sure you're not doing anything wrong, and if you have a problem, they can tell you what to do about it!
