I ran a 18' Tundra with a 115 2 stroke for 2 years. It was a bit under powered but over-all it performed well for me. Top speed 44 mph with light load. If it were me I would look at a larger outboard.
thanks alot for the reply

Ally, at boat shows I work for Tracker this question comes up frequently. Many people are looking for a smaller motor because they want to keep costs down and/or feel they simply don't need more motor. There is always a lot of interest in a Tundra package with the 115 4-stroke motor. This motor will perform OK on a 18' Tundra and will work for some. By example, I sold one to an older couple that fish together and when I ran into them after the season they told me they were pleased with the performance of their boat. But realize that if you are carrying a lot of passengers, or a heavy load, fish large waters, or are planning on pulling a water-skier or a tube, you will probably want more motor. In the past, I've always steered customers to the 135 Optimax because it gives excellent performance (10 mph faster than the 115 4-stroke) and fuel economy, but Tracker is currently offering a Power Up Savings promotion of $2000 on a 150 Optimax package that will put you into a boat at nearly the same price as the 135 Optimax package. Something to consider if you think you might need a little more motor. We hope to see you in a Tundra, you will love the boat! Jim Carroll NPAA #588

Ally.. I run that motor on my 19' Starcraft and have also rode in Jigging5's rig. My boat fully loaded will run 38, thats with 2 suspensions seats at 80 each and a partner that pushes close to 300. I would expect you will be in the 42 range. I could not turn the 17" prop and dropped to 15". If you can turn the 17 you may see 45 out of it.

Jim.. I beleive Merc is or soon will also have the 150 4 stroke? If I would have had a bit more patience I could have had a free upgrade to a 135 opti when Merc was having a hard time filling 4 stroke orders.
Thanks guys, The main reason I am thinking of the 4 stroke is that I plan on having this boat for a long time. In it for the long haul
thanks again

Ally, I cannot speak for the tundra, but I owned a 2000 Lund Angler ss w/a merc 115 2 stroke. Traded for a 2003 Angler ss, w/115 Johnson 4 stroke. I love this motor to this point. I went 4 stroke hoping to be able to troll without needing a kicker. It works great. When I purchased, I was guided by my dealer not to try the new Johnson 140 4 stroke because it had not been out long. Now after 6 months he says it, too, is a good unit. The 2000 angler was rated at max 115 and I got 40-42 miles/hr. The new angler is a little larger but has the IPS hull. With the 115 4 stroke Johnson, I get 38-40. It is a very small concession to have the 4 stroke, My opinion.
