A friend of mine recently had a big mishap. He left the sliding lock collar on his new MinnKota Bow mount up when the motor was stowed. He then took off across the choppy waters of the lake. Guess what happened! CRUNCH!! He got everything back in the boat, but the shaft is completely destroyed, and he has a few new dings in his new boat. Is there a way to get the trolling motor repaired without buying a new one?

That happened to me once they said they never saw one busted up that bad, came down at about 40mph. Minnekota replaced the mangled parts for less than $100. That was 10 yrs ago and I have not forgotten the slide since. Check with your insurance they may call it a collision in which case you probably have a deductible but you really didn't run into anything so it may be covered under comprehensive coverage.

I had that happen as well. I only lost one of the side panels and replaced it myself. I see the new min bow mounts have a auto-locking mechanism so you don't have to move the collar everytime. I wonder why??!!
