What needs to happen is we all need to get togather and let the RCL know that we want them to come back. Here is a phone # for Charlie Evens (270)362-4880 ext. 215. People need to let the RCL know that the are welcome here. And everyone that is upset with the way Bob Lamb blew this up you need to call the La Crosse Tribune (608)782-9710 and talk to the head of editing and give them your opinion on the trash they keep letting Bob Lamb write. Also one more person to put in his place Mike Huebsch a State Rep.(608)266-0631 who says it's time to get the upper hand on regulating fishing tournaments before it's too late. well if he is so for our resource then why in his how many years has there been no laws put into efect to save the prespawn walleyes from some of the dam fisherman in the spring. There are more prespawn walleyes taken from the lock and dams in one day opposed to the four days the RCL would have been here.We as concerned fisherman need to give these people a call.

I agree maybe its time to start forwarding our e-mails to the mayor of laCrosse and the buisness owners who lost so much or event the convention bureaus.

I agree as well - as a LaCrosse businessman I have already called and talked to contacts at the RCL and e-mailed Sonny my view points. I feel if enough of us plead our case and welcome them back maybe the RCL would reconsider since they are determining the schedule at this time for next year. Please contact them and let them know how important having this caliber of fishermen in our city really is to all of us.

Given what has already transpired, I don't think you will get the RCL interested in coming back in July. They will face the same assault as this year.

Here's a suggestion for you:

Lobby for the next RCL Championship to be held in La Crosse! If held in October, the warm water release problem is eliminated. What do you think?

I'm all for the Championship being held in LaCrosse next year. It's great fishing and beautiful country over there in the Fall!
There also wouldn't be any "blow days" to keep us all off the river like it did to us on Bay.
That's an excellent Idea!

The RCL championship's home in Green Bay and NEVER should be moved!!! LaCrosse had it's chance. No sense in beating a dead horse!!! Enough said.

Concerning Lacrosse.......I, nor most others, don't know what really happened....but I think we all have a good idea.
And does anyone really think we, or any other large circuit, will be back?.....I doubt it.

A point I feel worth mentioning - I, and everyone else who was planning to participate in the tournament, would have been a licensed angler - and therefore would have had a LEGAL RIGHT to keep the daily bag limit, if they so desire. Does the fact that I, or anyone else just so happen to be in a competition on that particular day strip me from this right?!!!!!! Is that correct? Something smells here.....

In my experience, tournament anglers are, as a whole, very concerned and conscientious anglers who are probably just a little more inclined to release their daily catch than most anglers in general. Personally, I may keep 4 or 5 fish a season. Fish that in my opinion wouldn't have made it otherwise.....

All these people so bent on "protecting the resource" by focusing on the tournament community, are IMHO, barking up the wrong tree.

Case in point:
Opening weekend on the Menominee River - well over two hundred boats, who knows how many fisherman?
The weekend prior saw twenty to thirty boats.
The bag limit prior to the opener was one fish.....raised to five fish opening weekend. ....Coincidence?

The last few weeks of ice on the Fox River in Depere is an incredible bite. Year after year I watch fisherman load their car trunks with limit after limit after limit.....

In the last ten years, Green Bay has seen a 90% reduction in our Yellow Perch population......Ninety percent..... Most commercial fisherman are out of a job. The Yellow Perch had been the staple food source for the vast majority of our gamefish......and whereas the DNR has spent countless hours and money creating some type of boundaries to contain it's tournament anglers - all stemming from a kneejerk reaction to a handful of fish that didn't survive from a tournament years ago.....The Bay, (and all of the Great Lakes, for that matter) are in a state of crisis - due to invader species - specifically Carp, White Perch, Gobies, Zebra Mussels......and whatever is the next to come. Not to mention pollution.

Greenpeace came here years ago and found discharge pipes from the local paper mills that the DNR and/or EPA were completely clueless as to their existence?!!!!

I have personally witnessed **** being discharged into local waters that spelled instant death to any life form that may get in its way.....outraged, I called the DNR, the warden, the police......was any action taken ?......absolutely nada!

Can't we stick some 8$/hour security guards somewhere on the St Lawrence and make sure these ***** captains discharge their ballast water before they enter our Great Lakes?.....I don't know - am i oversimplifying things? - enlighten me!

As far as Green Bay and the championship is concerned - the town and fishery boast assets that most sites can't contend with.
First of all, we are a proven commodity. No surprises.
Lodging isn't a concern - for any budget. Nor is entertainment, dining, and bait/tackle or marine supply concerns.
The fishery, as we all know, is world class. And in the event that some weather kicks up, the option to confine boats to the Fox River is there........

but i am getting tired and forget what my point was......something to the effect that perhaps we need prioritize our concerns and efforts to make things right!!.......I'm sorry, but all the energy being directed towards the tournament crowd....i just don't know.....I don't get it....

How many children will go to sleep hungry tonite in America?... or across across the globe for that matter..if you did nothing to rectify this...but yet you concerted some effort to stop the upcoming tournament coming to your hometown.......you need check yourself - Quickly!
