Does anyone know if there has been any studies on this? How about your own opinion(s)?
The Western Basin has the islands and reefs. Central and Eastern Basins have featureless (for all intense and purpose) bottoms. Yeah, the Central has the "Mountain" and the "Trench" but that's it, basically!
What if the DNRs, or whoever, dumped huge piles of good, clean construction material in these areas to build artificial reefs or submariner islands for habitat?? Now, I'm not talking about pollution or toxic elements! I'm saying concrete, brick, stone, rock (if there is a difference), gravel - NOT asphalt, steel etc. Fish LOVE structure and I would think that this could only enhance the fisherie. Possibly increase the potential for fry-of-the-year to have a greater survival rate due to the nooks and crannys to hide in.
Not just Erie - Michigan, Ontario etc.
What do you all think?
