Most of you experienced fishermen may already do this, but while fishing the Ameri-Can tourney out of Dunkirk this past weekend, I received a tip that would have saved us a 10#+ fish! Take the front treble hook off those Renosky's! It has little or no affect on the action..the fish never get hooked on them..and they hang up on the edge of the net while netting fish! (Right Gilligan?) I'm not sure what affect removing them from other brand stickbaits has on them, but I'm going to do some experimenting! Good Fishing, Sluggo (Chris)

Sounds great! I've done this on a few stickbaits; no scientific "proof" but I don't believe we've ever lost a fish due to the front treble being removed...just one guy's experience.
P.S. Which Renosky patterns?

I have been removing the front hook for the last two years. Works. I also use the largest salmon net that I could buy with a six foot handle. To this I added an additional 8 foot fiberglass lineman's pole. The deeper you can net a fish, I feel the better chance of keeping him from paniking when he gets near the surface, fliping the hook. Netting down deep, they just seem to go into the net. Talking big nets. I got a big musky net from DEN's Sportmans Outpost in Vermilion, Ohio. Phone 440-967-4000. Big and approximately 4 foot deep. Love it.
