Color graph question?Lowrance/Garmin

I was looking at color graphs and I see Garmin is a 16 color screen and Lowrance is 256 color screen. It seems like a huge difference, any comments on how they mark fish etc.?

I have the Lowrance with the "256 color" screen. It is capable of displaying 256 colors but in reality you won't see that many. The Lowrance has the ability of defining your own color map. You have to do it with a computer and down load the new color map to the unit. Most people don't know about this and don't do it. I wouldn't worry about a "16 color" unit. It would be perfectly adequate. I think the "256 color" screen is mostly a sales gimick.
