I've ran the LPG the last two years, it's great on the bow, but they've had problems reading at high speed. It's really sensitive to the transducer angle. You can watch your jig underneath it, so that makes it pretty nice.
The raytheon 750 is a great unit, with the dual transducer frequeny, large screen etc.
However, there is one serious flaw (at least to me - when I had one for a short while - 2 years ago when they first came out -- scroll speed. )
On the unit that I had, the scroll speed was very very very slow.
I worked with the factory for a couple of months, but was unable to get the scroll speed to an acceptable limit, and returned the unit for full credit.
I then obtained a Pinpoint 7500 - with which I have been extremely satisfied, and one of its best features, is the very high scrolling speed.
With the LMS750 - I was always trying to peer around the edge of the unit, wondering what was coming next.
I have talked to folks that use the unit on Erie for trolling and have been very pleased with the unit. I have also talked to folks that have used it in blue water - i.e. the ocean -- for which it is really designed -- and the folks have also been very pleased with the LMS750. However, for my shallow - up to 60 feet of water - water use for walleye fishing - it just didn't work out.
Take care

Cannot comment on the Raytheon, butam running the LPG2000 and love it. Yes, at high speed it gets lost once in awhile but otherwise definition is great. As far as ease of use it is virtually idiotproof. Also large knobs allow access even with gloves.

I have to agree. This is my first season with the lpg2000. Although I'm still learning how to use the thing, it's awesome.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-19-01 AT 09:54PM (CST)[p] We,ve been using the LPG 2000 for a couple years now and had the same problem at high speed. However a Zercom tech sent me info on how to access th "Super User's Menu" in it are some adjustments you can make to possibly solve this problem. We only tried it once, and got a higher speed before losing bottom but still need to 'tweek' it a bit. Here's how to get in:
While Pressing and holding the Range Button, press the following buttons in the following order:
v Control Panel.
v Gain.
v Control Panel.
v Gain.
Release the Range Button. The LPG 2000 is now in the Super-Users Menu mode. To view the Beam and X-Mit menus, use the Control Panel button to activate the menus and scroll down past the Simulator menu.
˛ Adjust the Beam menu to “Narrow”.
˛ Adjust the X-Mit Power to High.
˛ Adjust the X-Mit Length higher until you get a bottom reading.
However, you must do this each time the unit is powered up, because all settings go back to the default when you shut it off. Hope this helps, I think it will work for us once we figure where to set everything. By the way, as far as everything else on this unit, we absolutely love it. And they dont come any more user friendly than this one...You can work this one with oven mits on!!
