Myself, my Dad and best friend will be heading out for Sakakawea next week. We'll be staying at the Roughrider in Hazen. I'm hoping someone will let me know of the condition of ramps on the south side. My buddy wants to try the Van Hook Arm but I couldn't find any ramps on the state map directly south of that area. We are all seasoned Oahe anglers and running a few miles of water is not a problem. Any advice from our North Dakota friends will be greatly appreiciated. Thank you in advance....

You won't have any problems with the access at Beulah bay, Hazen Bay, or Dakota Waters. All are in good shape. The best way to fish the 'Arm would be to drive around to the north side and use the Van Hook or Parshall Bay Ramps. You could also put in at Deepwater Bay and run north. The closest ramp to the 'Arm on the south side would be Skunk Bay.

Good Luck, the fishing on Sak right now (everywhere) is excellent!

I can totally agree with the above post. I recently fished the PWT event on Sakakawea out of Beulah Bay and we did run as far north on day two as we were allowed; deepwater bay. That is about a :36 minute run(620 ranger, 200 Hp Merc) from Beulah with a little wind on the water, then if you are interested in running further north than that, oh my! I'd watch the weather or maybe run around to the north side and put in. fishing has been great but the weather has been very unstable lately. Had to sit on the shore last Friday and wait for lightning to pass before we could get back out but it was well worth it. Hey good luck and let us know how ya did.

Thank you all for the replies, We are really looking forward to fishing and staying in North Dakota. It's been getting a little stuffy here in South Dakota. Once again, Thank You...
