View Full Version : Faces behind the names
As i've been on here now for quite a while as a regular,I often wonder who all the faces are behind the names. I was thinking what a grand idea it would be to have a social gathering (dinner?)where folks could meet one another. Everyone who comes could wear name tags with their post names on them. Being from Minneapolis I know there are a lot of folks out there who are local to this area or even Duluth who are on here all the time. It could be a great way to maybe meet new potential fishing partners and see "who's who". If this has already been mentioned before I apologize for missing it. What do the rest of you think?

That's not a bad idea. I've attended ralleys from other homepages and found them to be a great time. I would suggest that a "members page" should be put in place where the member can put up a couple of photos and biography to start.

I agree, it would be nice to have a listing of all the regulars with a photo of the person.

Hey you guys...just go to the Walleye Central Get Together down at Huron, OH each November! Fish Lake Erie for Big Fish, and meet your WC friends. Last years was a blast!! I think you would enjoy it. Check out the articles from the last get together. You can find them on the Mainpage. They even have pictures..;-)

Although it would certainly be fun, most of us in this area would probably not be able to travel that far with a boat in tow and/or take the time from work(we already burned our vacation time during the summer fishin'. Who set up the Ohio event? I think something similar is in order in Minnneapolis or St. Paul. Nice thought though!
Sounds like a great idea. Lets find a spot in Mlps. area or better yet, lets go an hour north and meet at Mille Lacs.

I certainly dont have the time to persue this good idea myself, But if anyone else does, I think Dave Bentley at Eddies Resort would be happy to accomadate somthing like this.He has a huge dining room that overlooks the lake. I'm sure there would be no charge, but he would need some advance numbers so as to have plenty of staff on hand. Great idea guys, and in my opinion this would be a fantastic choice for such an event. Count me in, just make it late enough in the year so ther are no Circut conflicts or you may loose a lot of guys.

I agree, Eddy's would be a good place and Dave's a great guy too.

Great idea!
I have enjoyed reading this board for a while and I would be more than happy to meet with the rest of you at Eddy's. I landed some nice walleyes last spring drifting the gravel in front of and north of Eddy's, in 8-15' of water.
Name the time and date, and I'll clear my schedule.
I also like the idea of having a place where we can post a favorite photo or two.

p.s. I'll be out at Minnetonka this weekend. I fish areas around Wayzata bay. Usually stop in at Haskel's in Excelsior for lunch around 1:00 pm. Crappies should be biting. (1990 Alumacraft Trophy 170 blue w/red stripe, 100 hp Evinrude.)

I'll be putting in in Wayzata bay myself. Dark blue/silver stripes on a '00 Ranger 620 with 225 Optimax. I'll um, ah, just be on a boat ride (girlfriend) so don't laugh at me. She wants to drive so I may need to stop for a couple shots at Lord Fletchers. I may sneak a couple rods in the boat. I got some good info yesterday.

Joe,
Nice rig!!
I use the access next to the Wayzata Yatch club. I should be there around 9:00 am. Kind of a zoo for parking, but it works.
I have had good luck crappie fishing early in the season around the Arcola bridge. Good boat watching going through the channel, always makes me drool a little. Other spots a little later in the month, Spirit Island and Swift's Point.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say we probably won't make it there early enough to go to the Yacht club landing. I'll probably go to the Grays Bay access.
My info is all from the other side of the lake so hopefully, the sailboats will be at a minimum. I doubt it though.
See ya out there.
Joe
Hey, those Rangers all look alike.... describe the gal so we can figure out which boat is yours!

There is a great forum that already exist for gathering every 3rd Wednesday of the month. The Minnesota Walleye Alliance meets at 7:00 PM over at the Richfield American Legion. Its a great place for meeting others and getting first hand info from featured monthly guests and other MWA and/or WC members. I think that "Dave MPLS" is very active in that group and can confirm this info or you can contact Paul at (651) 488-9017.
I have not had a chance to attend in quite some time,(2 jobs, three kids in sports, boosters members for those sports, hunting, fishing, cabin, etc.) but I think this is all correct.

I'll give her a Pinpoint hat to wear for ya Hans. She'll be the girl driving the boat with the white knuckled guy sitting on the wrong side of his own boat. Man, I hope the rest of my hair doesn't go grey. Did I mention she's never driven a boat before?

You are correct. The Minnesota Walleye Alliance meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7PM. The meetings are held at the Richfield American Legion, Post #435 at 65th and Portland. Our next meeting will be May 17th. The guest speaker at this meeting will be Scott Fairbairn, 1998 PWT Top Gun. Additional information, including schedules and map, can be found on the web page, mnwalleyealliance.com. This page can also be accessed from the WC mainpage under Walleye Clubs.
If anyone requires additional information, please contact me.

As an aside, a get together at Eddy's sounds like a great idea. Anybody want to pick up the ball and run with it? I would be happy to help if needed.

I hope to get the family out on Minnetonka on Saturday. I usually put in at Maxwell bay. We fish Maxwell bay, Seton and Black Lakes.
I'll be in a green and tan Crestliner Sportfish with a 115 Evinrude.
Hope those crappies are biting!!

That's not so bad, at least she takes an interest. I couldn't get my wife to drive the boat even if I jumped out.....

I'll do one better and invite anyone that wants to join my group on Opener in Ottertail Lake for a personally smoked ham and/or deep fried turkey feast (depends on the croud) on Saturday afternoon, May 13th. Very few whoppers come outa that lake, but the bite is typically very good for eaters and a few releasers. I can't do much for accomodations, except to offer tent/camper sites at the property. My cabin is small but has lots of room outside as well as a places to park and a direct access to the lake. Hot shower, great food and a bon-fire that night. Very easy to find.
I realize that most of you have plans already, but for those that might be in the area that day or don't have plans, common over. If the show is slow, then only a turkey or ham will be cooked.
Get in touch with me ASAP if you are interested.

I think it is a great idea to meet people in here. I really like the idea of posting pictures. Now is that for the boat, or the person???? I now know what is coming "Who cares what the woman looks like as long as the boat looks good" Or do the men care what the woman looks like????

Where do you fish walleyes on Leech? I get there quite a few times each year. I guess I have the wrong name for this "Walleye" site, but I love to fish Muskie's too.

What? Are you kidding? I'm not blowing my spots to a couple thousand people! Actually, timing is everything on Leech. I fish the whole lake.
