topwater walleye bite

well i went back to the dam tonight and tryed to get the walleyes i seen yesterday hitting crappie that were dieing. none of my lures works but i cam prepared<G> had a minnow bucket with some 2-4inch perch and 1 that was 5. put my smaller ones out first but somthing kept takeing them. so i went to a bigger bait. on my 5inch perch i caught a 21inch walleye. on my next smaller perch i caught a 19inch walleye. now these baits were not on top but they had no weight to drag them down either. shortly after those to fish the flatheads started biteing and i used the rest of my bait on them. going to go back tomoorow and see if i can do this again. dave

Dave, I don't know what state your from? But, using game fish for bait such as perch, is illegal in Minnesota! :-( Although, I'm sure it works quite well, I'm not allowed to try it.

i am sorry, i m from missouri and i guess they are sunfish but we have always called them perch. i keep forgetting that you boys up north have yellow perch.but it is legall here to use them. its just to bad you cant try it because man it seamed to work well. i am going to go back tonight and try it with some big shiners and some more sunfish and see which one works best. dave
