This is a really dumb question but i will ask it anyway. I found two fishfinder for about 200 dollars each. One is a brand new lowranc x65 on ebay and the other is a used but in good condition eagle optima. Would i be nuts buying the brand new x65 with 160x160 pixels over the optima with 240x240 pixels. Or would it be smarter to get the optima even though it is used.

I would get the 240x240 Eagle. Eagle=Lowrance anyway.
Is the Optima the Optima plus? Does it come with speed/temp? If not it is only around $250 new and you would be better off buying it new.
HTH!

I'm a huge lowrance fan, but the eagle is quality stuff too. LEI=lowrance or Eagle. You may want to check with you local gander stores because I thought I saw the optima on clearance the other day?? If not, the price of a new one is really close to the used price. Maybe 50 or so more, but you have warranty then!!

I think the warrenty on a fishfinder is worth paying the price of a new one.
I've had three fish finders crap out on me. One of them I bought used and got burned on it big time.

IMHO, I would spend the extra $49.99 for a new Eagle and get the warranty. I owned one for 4+ years and it was a great unit.

I was at gander the other day and i didn't see it for sale there. Is there a place i can buy it on the web for that price? If so, tell me!!!! If i can't find a new cheap optima, should i still get it over the lowrance x65. thx for the replys.

www.cabelas.com has the optima for $249 you can get it with speed and temp for $319 or just temp for $294. go to the marine setion and then fishfinders.
I would go for the 240 pixel display on the optima.
good luck

cabelas doesn't have any in stock, and i doubt they are going to restock. Oh yeah a correction. The price on the used optima is 190 with shipping, not 200. My mistake.

I think Www.reedssports.com has them in stock but they want $319.00 for the unit without the speed and temp.
It's a tough call warranty or no warranty for $100. But I'd stick with the 240x240 idea.
I hope this helps.
