Anybody fished Walleye at Dead Lake in OtterTail County, Minnesota. How do you catch them? Anything biting at Dead Lake right now? Help, I need it.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-23-01 AT 08:27AM (CST)[p]Rod,

Like most of the lakes in that area, sandy bottoms and soft transitions make deeper weedlines your best bet. Especially this time of year. Hot temps drive them deep.

Try 6-8 foot spinner with leeches or crawlers and slow it way down. If you are not pully weeds off your hooks constantly, you are not in the right zone. If you get too frustrated switch to a small jig and drop it right down into the weeds.

Evenings will produce some nice action in the shallows with a bobber and a leech on a plain or red hook. The lower east arm has some great spots for that. Other wise work the islands and deeper pools in the northern and weatern arms during the day. There is a point in the south western arm that always holds good fish. Start shallow and work it out to 20/25 feet.

Try pulling some cranks around this area if you need to speed up for a while and change the pace. Dark blue/silver Thunders work great.

Fun little lake!
