Just wondering if anyone has had any field time with the new digital gauages, ie the fuel managment, speedometer and multifunction tach. I am going to be buying a new boat with a F150 and was wondering if they were worth the extra bucks.

I went with the digital tach on my F150, nice features. The fuel management would be cool but seemed like overkill. contact me via e-mail with any questions.

I wouldn’t call them new. I have been using them for 15 years. That was one of the reasons I went to Yamaha back in 1989. Yamaha was years ahead of both Merc and OMC when it came to digital gauges. Yes they are worth the money. As you are adjusting your engine trim and trim tabs you get an instantaneous reading of gallons per hour being burned by the engine. There is no better way to see how efficiently you can trim your boat to get maximum miles per gallon.

I go to canada for one week a year, There is a two hour run back to the lodge. I was thinking the fuel management gauge would be nice for that to see how much fuel I burned going in. This would let me know how much I need going out with lighter load. I currently use 29 gallons of fuel for the entire week with my Ficht 115. I plan on trading for a 1700 fisherman with F150. The fisherman has a 27 gallon tank. Which is less than my current 1775 pro v. I may go with the digital management gauges as I think they will pay off in the long run.
