Orange Whip,
I know you have had a Lund Alaskan so here are my questions:You had a 2002 20ft tiller and I believe that was rated for 70hp?I just bought a new 2003 and I believe that is rated for a 80hp?2004 is rated for 90hp.I am hoping 70hp will do fine on this boat.I am expecting 30mph Gps.The motor I selected is a Yamaha 2 stroke as I did not want a 4 stroke for my own personal reasons. How well did your boat do as far as speed loaded and hole shot with a 70 hp?They have not hung the motor yet so I could go to a 75 Merc if needed but really don't want to.E-Tec motor is not for me.
Thanks,
Saggy

Hi Saggy

I think mine was a 2000. It too was rated for 80HP. My choices of motors at the time I bought was either a four stroke 80 HP Yammie, carbed or the four stroke Suzuki 70HP injected. I choose the Suzuki for two reason. It was fuel injected and lighter.

With three big guys in the boat it would jump and go. 30 mph NO problem. Even with four guys in it it was no sloutch. And that was a four stroke. If the 70 Yammie is the motor your looking at you will not be disappointed at all.

If it was my choice between a Merc 75 two stroke or the Yamaha 70 two stroke it would be the Yammie hands down. It's almost 80lbs lighter. Not that I have anything against Mercury as they may be one of my next motors down the line.

Cool boat! You'll love it!

I'm jealous. Keep in touch I have couple more set up tips that I've learned in the three years I've owned my Alaskan 20.

You're really gonna love that boat!
