Still trying to deside between the Suzuki 115 or 140 4-stroke or the Johnson. Now I know they are the same motor, But don't like the all white motor for Johnson.
So My ?? is ( And I had a salesman tell me that johnson will fix the Suzuki under warranty) To go with the Johnson and cover it in Camo-Clad?? AS theres more dealers? As the Suzuki dealers are few and far between here In Tn. Would rather have the Suzuki color, But would hate to get off on a fishing trip and need motor work done. And not be a dealer around..

So please help me if you are getting your suzuki worked on at Johnson dealers.

Thanks and this motor is going on a War-Eagle 2072LDSV and its Wetlands camo. So that is why I would hate to have a white motor on this boat.

I believe I would ask a Johnson dealer if that is a fact or just a sales pitch by the Suzuki sales person. I am no stranger to warranty workings and this sounds hokey to me.

Johnson will only warranty their own brand-name of motors. The same with Suzuki, they will only service the Suzuki brand and will NOT warranty the Johnson versions.

If service is an issue, buy the Johnson since there are more Johnson/Evinrude dealers nationwide that Suzuki dealers.

Probably a dumb question but if Johnson/Suzuki 4 strokes are the same motor why wouldn't they service either one?

The motor company pays the dealer back for warranty work. If they are not an autherized dealer, they will not get paid for the labor.

I wonder if there are many dealers who sell and service both. It would give people a choice of white or black.

So if these are the same motor, who is actually making them? Bombardier or Suzuki???

Suzi builds the four strokes.

I Just got an Evinrude 250, all white and initially was bummed out that it didn't come in Blue. But, I needed a 25 in. shaft motor. Any ways the white motor has really grown on me and I actually like the combo now. We are seeing more white motors as of late and I'm really liking the look now. If your going waterfoul hunting I can see your point but then I'd just cover it with a camo gunny sack as a black motor would shine too much also. I'm sure in the long run you would enjoy a white 140, with many service options, more than the less powered 115 even though it's black. Only my opinion, however.

The motors are the same but Johnson went the CHEAP route with there guages and power trim.....Suz has a tac with a hour meter and nicer throttle handle and power trim.I have a Johnson 140 and love the motor. Also if you need parts for you Suz YOU can call any Johnson dealer

The dealers do not get paid in cash for their warranty work, their monthly parts invoice is credited for the repair at the manufactures recommended labor and parts at cost, plus a small handling fee.

Bombardier deals directly with Suzuki of Japan and not with Suzuki America. It is said that Bombardier sells more total Johnson Suzukis than Suzuki America does thru its dealers.

The motors are not identical. Bombardier has them manufactured with their wiring harness connectors and control hookups so they will be compatable with the Johnson and Evinrude accessories, gauges, and control boxes.

Hey Muskyx, The trim and tilt on the Johnson I think is good stuff. As a matter of fact next time you look at a Yamaha motor you might notice that it is the same as a Johnson's. No hour meter on the Johnson tach but the four lights on the system check tachometer has a real advantage. Take care Tom
