LMS350A/antanae hookup question

If we hook up my LMS350A to my buddies boat (he has the old 5 channel LMS350/I have 12 channel), and use the unit while fishing together, will the unit and antanae work OK???? I know the unit will lock on with the older ant.---but does the unit care (in the way it saves info or some other parameter) which antanae it is talking to??? I'm planning to take my unit as a spare--and if we end up using it, want to have it work with my original set-up once I return....any thoughts??? THX

The units will not work, if your unit is a 5 channel and his antenna is a 12 channel, there are also chips and software that is in the unit that have to be able to read the 12 channel info that is being sent to the unit.

It is just the opposite--my unit is a 12 channel and his ant is a 5 channel---but will the unit save and use the info later when I hook it back up to my 12 channel antanae??? THX

yes your unit will work fine when you hook it back up to your 12 channel antenae. It will save the GPS info so you can use it latter.
