I understand that there was a good article recently on handlining in the North American Fisherman Magazine. If anyone has a copy of the article - I would appreciate very much if they would be willing to send me a copy. Please feel free to e-mail me. I've just started handlining and I'm trying to learn all I can about it. Have had minimal success thus far. Much thanks. ET

There's also a good article on it in the latest Off-Shore newsletter. Go to http://www.offshoretackle.com and register for their free newsletter. It's a great little pub and as an added bonus you'll get to see a picture of WalleyeCentral's own master walleye angler Juls!

Good luck.

you can also search thru some of the older hosted chat's. there's more than one where we had long time handliners hosting and answering questions.
hope that helps

That article was in the March issue. contact Nort American Fisherman and they probably can get you a copy. Handlining is not automatic, but itie easier to learn that some other techniques. Keep at it and you will do ok.
This winter there will be a pro on the chat talking about handlines.

Handlining is tough to learn, especially when you arent fishing with someone who has done it before. I too had minimal success at first. Now it is fairly easy. The most important part is length of leads, and types of lures you are running, it changes day versus night. Give me an Email at swamphopper@hotmail.com ill try to help you out.

Just tried it, and it worked fine here. If you can't get it to work, just email me your name and snail mail addy, and I will enter the info from my end.
Give it another try, but this time try hitting refresh before entering the information. Just a guess...don't know if that will help.

Just wanted to say "much thanks" for all the friendly and helpful replies. Even the words of encouragement helps too! It does get discouraging when you're out there for hours with no fish. However, I am pleased to report that this morning I connected with three decent fish handlining. I fish the St. Clair River (MI) - just south of the salt plant. Two were caught on a white spinner with red/white blade and the other was caught on a small perch Rapala. Sure "recharges" the "ol battery to have a bit of success once in a while. Again, much thanks and appreciation to all. ET

Yo ET.... I fish the St. Clair and am from St. Clair. I have only been handlining for a few years myself (long time drifter). What kind of boat do you run and I will keep and eye out for you. A lot of guys use channel 16 on the CB to call out colors which are producing that night.

Gilly....I run a Lund (Green) Rebel 1650 with 40 hp Merc. Have a transom mount electric trolling motor usually sticking up high. Would welcome any/all suggestions as I'm just learning this handlining and, although I do like "being one with the fish" - I just wish there were more fish! Gets very frustrating! My e-mail is: etlon@concentric.net. Thanks. ET
