I have a Crestliner 1850 sportfish and am looking for a kicker, I mainly troll for walleye on Erie and would like some recommendations. A friend recommended the Yamaha T8. Any input would be appreciated.

Brian,

I've had my T-8 for three seasons now and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another when and if I'd need one. I've go mine mounted on a 2025 ProVIFS and it handles the boat very well. Trolls down to a crawl and will push the boat about 6mph when it has too.

I have the remote model with the shift, throttle along side my main motors controlls. The tilt feature is great, the bracket is very strong and the motor just purrs! Starts great too.

If you choose this motor I think you'll be very happy.

Exact same recommendation. T8 with remote and power trim.

Brian:

I don't think you will need the 25" shaft for your boat. I think your boat has a 20" transom and my guess is you should install a T8 with a 20" shaft. Maybe somebody will be able to give more insite on the shaft length. I think you will find that most people are extremely pleased with their T8 s.

I can't wait until you get it installed.

Tom,

the transom height is 25in, just double checked on Crestliner.com, hopefully that sucker comes in soon!

The T8 would be my 1st choice as well.

The T-8 with the lift has the strongest lift around. Good choice.
