Musky:
I have a 1994, 75 hp Mariner that I got last year mounted on a 16-ft. Crestliner. I asked much the same question you did. Was told that it was a very decent motor but a bit hard to start in the morning. Must choke it aggressively then it runs fine and starts readily the rest of the day. All in all a very good motor.

My first motor was a 1995 Mariner 75 hp, ran it for 5 years and the only problem was an altinator the first year. Mine was a little cold blooded on spring or fall mornings, had to ride the choke for a while but after a little warm up it ran perfectly.

I baught a 1997 Mariner 75 hp last year and ran the heck out of it! It has performed flawlessly. Knock on wood!

Were Mariner's just a twin of the Mecury line with cosmetic differences?
(like GMC/Chevy)

I have a 95 90Hp Mariner on my 95 Lund 1775 Pro V and it has performed well, even in frigid weather on the Niagara last month. No complaints.

I have a 1998 Mariner 90 hp (3 cylinder). I have owned the outfit 3 seasons, no complaints - it has been a good motor for me.
