Just wondering if anyone else out there has been running the new suspension from Glyde Ryde? I just installed one the other evening and was out in 2'-3' waves for a few hours. My impression is that they are very solid yet still provide great shock absorbtion. The springs are much larger than the original model and the stainless material looks great, too.
I can certainly understand why they are nicknamed the "Gorilla Ryde" - these things seem indestructible. After having run the original ones for a few years, I believe these beat 'em hands down for rough, long service applications. There just may be a better mousetrap!
Anyway, now just to give the rod holders the same support - had one break the same evening and there was some salmon swimming around for awhile tethered to my rod and reel. What a waste - a dead fish and a rod/reel home for zebra mussels.
Oh well, I ramble. If any of the folks from Glyde Ryde read the board, both me and my back thank you for a great new product.
Any other opinions on these????

Couldn't agree more Bob. Just got done installing the new Glyde Ryde Stainless Steel version last week. Hat's off to John Estes and his crew for giving us a product that will add years to our fishing career. The new stainless is truly state of the art. John was at my house during the install to fill me in on all the new changes. Remember this unit is totally stainless which includes the springs, bolts, plates, everything. All the components are lazer cut including the holes which really makes the unit look as though it's part of the seat. With the addition of the tinted lexan plate, the 2 springs and shock can no longer be seen. Installation went very easy with total install time of about 2 hours for both seats. Just a reference for those of you with Rangers I had to move my seat bases back exactly 7 inches to compensate for leg clearance.
Also along during the install was Reg Delwiche, a writer for Bass and Walleye Boat Magazine. We plan on publishing a "How To" article so people can understand how easy these are to put in. We took plenty of pictures during install so look for this article coming out soon.
I've been using the Glyde Rydes for the past two seasons with my partner Eric Olson and can honestly say they've added years to our tournament fishing. I'm only 31 but it's nice to wake up in the morning and not have any backaches to deal with.
According to John, in addition to the Stainless version which is now available, he will also be producing a improved steel version which should be coming out soon.

I know from my perspective they have lengthened my fishing years tremendously. Considering I have a 12" stainless rod in my back and 14 fused vertebrae, this was my saving product as all the wave impact w/o them was crushing my lower discs.
By the way,the Ranger 620 for 2002 has been modified to accomodate the Glyde Ryde seats. Pretty strong support for a product that ( this sounds odd but...) provides strong support.
Go John Estes! Look to be able to order the Glyde Ryde installed from Ranger soon.

Hey Rip Lips,
Give John Estes a call at Glyde Ryde. The number is 1-800-748-7478. He's a super nice guy and will answer all of your questions about the seats.

My originals are on the way. Can't wait. I've ridden on them in Mark Brumbaugh's Ranger and can attest to how effective they are. My 53 year old back needs all the help it can get.
Let's not forget that they are designed for safety, durability and comfort. They're not intended to let you push your boat beyond resonable bounds. Your prudent navigation is the only real protection your hull has.
Great product, good company, and a good guy running it.
