I was wondering what size trolling motor to purchase for this size of boat? ie shaft length and pound thrust? I fish lakes and rivers. Any suggestions?

We sell those. We almost always put a Minnkota 55pd or 55pd/ap with 48" or 54" shaft on those.

Thanks TMAC for your reply that's about what I was thinking..a 55lb. thrust with a 54" shaft. I'm considering the Power Drive model and adding quick release mount and co-pilot. Anyone used this size motor on a 1650 Rebel or similar boat?

If your interested i have a 54lb thrust 54" shaft minnkota maxxum 24 volt that is in excellent shape, used very little. variable speed bow mount foot controlled. does not have transducer in nose cone. Came off 2000 targa 2000 ran boat fine in river currents. new mount and prop, never had a problem with it. going to unload soon. It's going in the local paper and into the classifids here soon. loooking around $400 which is around 40% off orig price out of bass pro catalogue could consider other offers. if interested e-mail me at lessrhonda@aol.com

I had the exact set-up for 2 years. A 55lb PD will do very well on this boat. I decided on that motor so I didn't have to go to a 24v system. Sold the boat and moved the motor to a 1675 Explorer and have no complaints. You should be very happy.

I have a 16 crestliner fishhawk and started out with a 12 volt system. If you fish tournaments or all day I would only use a 24 volt system and get the onboard charger you will never regret it.

Walleye Johnson. Is that you, Scott?

Get the 55PD with Universal Sonar. 54" should work fine.

I just sold a 2000 1650 Rebel SS with a 55 lb PowerDrive, it was a 12 volt, I never did any tourny fishing but that thing pushed that boat around all day long with no problems.

Shep - wrong Walleye Johnson! must be two of us..thanks for the feedback. I was considering going to a 24V system on this boat but when I called LUND and talked with the engineers about wiring suggestions they tried to talk me out of going to a 24v system ....said the boat just wasn't big enough to warrant a 24v system. The other reason I may go with the 12V -55lb. Power Drive Bow is weight concerns (extra battery) as I currently only have a Yamaha 30 hp. (3 cycl.) pushing this boat.

I'm only running a 40lb bow mount on my 1650 Rebel-V with no problems.Pulls it around fine in all but gail force wind conditions,in which case I myself prefer to backtroll with the gas motor anyway. So if you can go 55lb,still at 12 volts, better yet, with power to spare for the windy-est of days. Dont even think about 24V on the Rebel-V, just not needed, and probably wouldn't be able to fit 2 batteries into that small front battery compartment anyway. Have fun!!
